Through this program, the Rochas Foundation shall empower and prepare African youths to thrive in the innovation economy and become future leaders.
Important Statistics
With its rapidly growing youth population, Nigeria presents a unique opportunity for driving innovation and economic development in Africa.
i) Youth Population: Nigeria has the largest youth population in Africa, with over 60% of its population under 25. By 2050, Nigeria is projected to be the third most populous country in the world, with a population of over 400 million.
ii) Economic Growth Potential: Nigeria is Africa’s largest economy, with a GDP of $448.12 billion in 2021. The country has the potential to become a significant player in the global economy with sectors such as technology, agriculture, and creative industries offering substantial growth opportunities.
iii) Innovation Ecosystem: Nigeria has a thriving innovation ecosystem, with a growing number of tech startups, incubators and accelerators. Lagos the country’s commercial capital, is often called the “Silicon Valley of Africa”, attracting investors and entrepreneurs worldwide.
